Richard from the Letchworth Garden City Business Improvement District got in contact to discuss plans to replace their existing play area. They already had a play ship in place with wet pour safety surfacing. We discussed the requirements with Richard - what they wanted, and what they didn’t and the feedback they’d received. The existing ship was popular with children, so they decided to upgrade with our Super Ship. After a couple more conversations and a site visit, we got to work designing their new play.
One of the most important parts of the design process is presenting the proposal. We always create 3D renders so you can really visualise how the new play will look and immerse yourself in the design (and show the designs to the community, especially the children - after all it’ll be them playing on it).

Included in this design is safety surfacing - wet pour was already laid, so rather than replace it, we agreed to re-skim with new surfacing. This made sure the new surfacing meets the BS EN1177 regulations, and adds another colour into the play area. In addition to the wet pour, there was an additional area for rubber bonded mulch.
The Super Ship is part of our Imagination Play collection and one of our most popular. It’s the perfect opportunity to give children the chance to become captain of the ship, or a pirate like Captain Blackbeard, or even make each other walk the plank. There’s also lots of physical activity to keep children moving - the Super Ship includes slides, ladder, cargo net and a rock - plenty of activity to keep the kids entertained.
