Wet pour is an impact absorbing and low maintenance rubber crumb safety surface which you’ll see in a lot of public play areas. Due to the nature of the product, it requires little maintenance and very easily adds another dynamic to your play area with lots of colour options. Wet pour can be made to fit into any space, so if you have any awkward spaces, this could be the perfect option for you.
Wet pour is created by mixing together the coloured rubber crumb and a resin binder into a material which can be easily spread and levelled. It’s two layered, starting off with a SBR base layer which is topped with the coloured rubber crumb.
This diagram shows the depth of coloured rubber crumb, SBR (Styrene-Butadiene Rubber) base and MOT type 1 stone base (crushed aggregate material) required to achieve a specific Critical Fall Height. It reduces the impact from falls, meeting the critical fall height requirements. It’s hard wearing, high quality and slip resistant.
We highly recommend sweeping up leaves, flowers and other debris, as over time these will rot down forming ‘skin’ within the surface. This stops water being able to drain away and provides perfect growing conditions for algae, moss and weeds.
Most stains on a wet pour surface can easily be removed using hot (not boiling) water and a household detergent such as washing up liquid. We always recommend testing this on a small area of the wet pour first to make sure you’re happy with the results.
