The Brief 

A new homeowner reached out to our team seeking a custom, multi-activity climbing frame for their family. They envisioned an engaging play area equipped with dynamic features, including a slide, a climbing wall, and access ropes. Designed to foster active, outdoor play for their children.

The Solution 

To meet the family’s request for a tailored play area, a multi-feature wooden climbing system was designed to blend naturally with the garden's mature trees and timber fencing.

The final installation includes:

• Central Play Tower: A custom mountain adventurer featuring a lookout deck that serves as the core of the structure.
• Climbing ramp and rope: A wide, angled wooden climbing ramp equipped with a central pull-up rope allows children to scale the front of the tower.
• Integrated slide: A curved green tube slide is attached to the side of the main tower, providing a fun and fast descent.
• Monkey bars and swing set: An overhead wooden ladder extends from the main tower, doubling as monkey bars and the frame for two green belt swings.
• A-frame ladder: The far end of the swing structure is supported by an A-frame that features built-in wooden ladder rungs for additional climbing access.

Safety and surfacing 

To ensure the play area is safe for year-round use and to manage any uneven terrain, the entire footprint of the climbing frame was laid with a deep bed of protective woodchip safety surfacing. This natural bark blends perfectly with the rustic aesthetic of the timber frame and the surrounding woodland garden.
