The Brief
Parkside Yards, a dynamic lifestyle and community hub at West London’s Green Quarter, required a robust, family-friendly play space. The site needed a natural play area to complement its wildflower meadows and tree nursery while safely handling high footfall from nearby dining and retail spaces.
The Challenge
Delivering commercial playground equipment in a high-profile, mixed-use development presented a unique set of requirements:
- Aesthetic Alignment: The equipment needed to reflect the site’s natural surroundings and community-driven vibe.
- Scale and Inclusivity: The space had to engage children of varying ages, providing multiple avenues for both physical and imaginative play alongside the site's existing attractions, such as the giant jumping pillow.
- Commercial Durability: As an anchor attraction designed to increase dwell time for families visiting the piazza, the structures required exceptional longevity, weather resistance, and security for unsupervised public use.
Our Solution
Home Front designed and installed a tailored, heavy-duty timber play environment using natural wood chip surfacing to suit all ages and match the site's natural aesthetic:
- The Cosmic Clubhouse: A sprawling multi-level structure combining our Jungle and Mountain towers.
- Connecting Bridge: A wooden bridge linking the main towers.
- Varied Access & Exits: Features a rock wall, cargo net, gangplank, spiral slide, and classic green slide.
- Inclusive Play: Includes an interactive noughts and crosses panel for accessible, ground-level play.
- Organic Climbing: A standalone clamber stack of timber logs and ropes for balancing and climbing.
