The Brief
Following a word-of-mouth recommendation, the client reached out to us ahead of their summer relocation to their new home in the Cotswolds. With two young girls and a third child on the way, the family's goal was to design an amazing climbing frame to welcome the children to their new property.
They needed a versatile, bespoke setup that would immediately appeal to the toddlers while remaining challenging and engaging as they and the new baby grow. Rather than opting for a standard off-the-shelf climbing frame, the family requested a custom approach that would complement their spacious new garden and provide a wide variety of interconnected play features.
Design Highlights
Tailored to the family's specific needs, the finished design includes:
- Jungle adventurer twin base: Two elevated wooden platforms featuring classic timber roofs. Providing the perfect elevated hideaway for imaginative play.
- Connecting wobble bridge: A dynamic wobble bridge links the two main towers, adding a sense of adventure while allowing the children to traverse the structure safely.
- Varied climbing challenges: The design incorporates multiple ascent options to suit different skill levels, including a rock wall, cargo net, standard climbing wall, and a ladder. These varied entry points will continuously challenge the children's balance and coordination as they grow.
- Extended swing beam: A spacious swing area featuring a bucket swing alongside a standard flat swing. The swing beam also cleverly integrates monkey bars for even more play value.
- Ways down: A durable green slide extends from the central platform, offering a quick and thrilling descent back down to the lawn. A fire pole is also included as another quick escape from the towers.
- Base fort spaces: The ground-level areas beneath the towers are fully utilised. One side features an enclosed lower clubhouse, creating a shaded space perfect for secret dens or hide-and-seek, while the second tower houses a built-in picnic bench for outdoor snacks and crafts.
The Result
This purposeful addition to the garden brings the growing family together in a way that is both lasting and rewarding. Crafted with care and built from premium timber to ensure low maintenance and longevity, the playground is tailored specifically to the children's current ages and future milestones. It provides an incredible, safe, and challenging outdoor space for the children to make memories in their new home.
