Nestled in the Wiltshire countryside, Milk at Mile Elm has become a popular stop for visitors looking to enjoy fresh milk, ice cream and homemade treats straight from the farm.
To enhance the family-friendly atmosphere of the site, we were asked to design and install a bespoke play area that would provide children with a space to explore, climb and play while parents relaxed nearby.
The aim was simple: create a play installation that felt like a natural extension of the landscape, something that would sit comfortably within the rural surroundings while providing exciting play opportunities.

Working closely with the team at Milk at Mile Elm, we designed a timber play structure that balanced simplicity, durability and visual harmony with the countryside setting.
The design focused on natural materials and clean, classic forms, ensuring the installation would blend seamlessly with the surrounding farmland rather than stand out as a typical brightly coloured playground.
Positioned within a dedicated play area with natural woodchip surfacing, the layout was carefully arranged to create multiple play routes, encouraging children to climb, explore, and interact.

The result is a play structure that offers a variety of activities while maintaining a cohesive and natural aesthetic.
Since its installation, the play area has become a focal point of the farm shop experience. Families visiting Milk at Mile Elm can now stop for an ice cream or slice of cake, relax outdoors, and let the children burn off some energy in a safe and engaging play space.
On sunny afternoons, the area fills with laughter and activity, transforming the farm shop from a simple stop-off into a destination where families can spend quality time together.
