A play trail is a cost-effective option to enhance your school's play area and support the 7 key areas of learning. Timber trails offer pupils engaging ways to balance, climb, swing, and traverse during break and lunchtime, while giving a school a practical, low-maintenance way to encourage physical activity. Below, we dive into the main benefits of adding one to your playground.
Wobble beams build balance, monkey bars build strength, and net and rock walls ask children to plan a route and try again. Because a Home Front play trail is made of individual elements, you can mix gentle and challenging pieces so every child finds a level that suits them. Our trails are aimed at ages 6 to 11, and we work with EYFS, primary, secondary and SEND schools.
Play trails directly support several key areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and primary education:

Because a trail is modular, you do not need a large budget to begin. Single pieces start from a few hundred pounds, and you can add to the trail as funding allows. If you would rather install a complete circuit in one go, we also offer ready-made trail sets. We can also design a bespoke trail around your space and your pupils. Our funding page has useful tips if you are still working out how to pay.
Our trails are handcrafted from pressure-treated timber and come with a 20-year warranty against timber failure and 12 months against workmanship defects. We are ROSPA and BSI members, and our team is DBS-checked. Most of the build happens in our workshop, so installation causes minimal disruption, and we design every trail with you first.

Whether you are adding a single balance beam or planning a full trail, we would love to hear about your school. Browse the play trail range, look at our school projects, download a brochure, or call us on 01722 716165 to request a quote.
