Set among The Cotswolds, De Vere Cotswold Water Park hotel is located in the heart of the 152 lakes that spread across the unique Cotswolds Water Park.
When the hotel got in touch, they explained that their Cotswold hotel wanted to expand their offering to families and knew from experience that a play area was a sure way of doing so.
They expressed that a play area surrounded by the natural landscape of the Cotswold water park needed to be subtle enough to blend in with its environment yet inspire a love of play and adventure (we couldn't have agreed more)!
Play areas within the leisure industry go hand and hand, especially hotels as they attract families and give them a reason to return as well.
The team recognised that we have an appreciation for aesthetic harmony coupled with our kit being timber-based, so after discussing their requirements and finding out what they wanted to achieve, working together, we created the brief.
This is where we detail the requirements for the play area, so after conversations, ideas and visits, we agreed on play trails.
Play trails create a great obstacle course which is always a winner with families, especially when children can race against their siblings and friends - they also support both minor and gross motor skills.
To add something extra to the play area, we added a double swing bay along with two single swing bays, after all, no play area is complete without this playground favourite.
Our next step was to create the visual designs to help illustrate the space, these renders really bring conversations and ideas to life, and are a great way to immerse yourself in the design.
From here, it’s clockwork as we start to build the play trails and swing bays ahead of time at our workshop in Salisbury, so come the big day, all we have to do is put the pieces together. Before they knew it, the play trails were assembled and the swings erected.
Then it’s time for the climbing and swinging (and races across the play trails obstacle course) to begin.
