Outdoor
Play Equipment - Children
love to climb and swing, and every parent feels that
healthy outdoor play is good for children's development.
Childcare specialists now know that physical play is
of crucial importance in developing skills which are
vital in future life. Children have always wanted to
explore and climb - but there have always been hazards
attached to unsupervised adventure play.
Now
with the arrival of multi-function jungle gyms, back gardens
can take on the role of the playground at the local park
- and the children will be close by and under parental
supervision at all times. At Home Front we have always
believed that a play system such as this is a major investment
and as such requires careful thought. We also believe that
it is the sort of investment which a parent only wants
to make once. Hence our outdoor play equipment is massively
constructed to last and last, and is designed so that children
of all ages (yes, and adults too!) can play on it.
How
to choose outdoor play equipment ? - as children grow,
what accessories will they enjoy most? One of the most
universal "must
haves" is
a swing beam, and together with the right choice of swing
(ie infant or toddler swings) these can be enjoyed from
a very young age. Or you can have a bench swing too so
babies and parents can sit side by side. Have a look at our
range of accessories for your
play equipment or call us for advice
Typically
children stop being so interested in swings by the time
they enter their early teens but many parents report
to us that even their older children will sit on the
swing seats and chat. Alternatively you can hang a trapeze
bar or similar from the same hangers so the adventurous
and gymnastic will always find something to do. Unfortunately
swings do require space - you must leave 8 - 10' minimum
of free space in front and behind a swing beam so children
can pass safely. If you can spare more, all the better.
Current EU regulations require 2m of free space all round
your equipment; we are happy to give advice and make
suggestions as to how best to lay out your jungle gym
Most importantly it is the climbing
skills which young children will put to greatest use when
they start on their outdoor play adventure. All our systems
have as standard a ladder with round, easy-hold hand grips
and either an angled cargo net with soft touch rope or a
rock wall for more challenging climbs. This allows the youngest
climbers to make their way onto the deck - and as they'll
find a slide there the descent is always easier ! Slides
add real exhilaration to the play experience and we have
a choice of 4 different styles.
